Hello Brothers and Sisters,
i wanted to know what makes a song, band or album lovecraftian? Is it the Lyrics? is it the Bands aesthetic? Or is it the album art? Maybe all of the above?
In my opinion the lyrical themes and tone of the song play a HUGE part in showing if a song is Lovecraftian or not. The bands aesthetic is very important aswell here an example:
This is "Ultar", they are a Russian Black Metal band with Lovecraftian influences. A lot of their songs have got the names of Lovecrafts gods, locations and stories. For example:
Beyond the Wall of Sleep
Father Dagon
Shub-Niggurath
Yog-Sothoth
Kadath
Nyarlathotep
Azathoth
I personally love this band and all of their songs.
So here again. What makes a band, song or album Lovecraftian?

I'd say, other than showing a link to the mythos itself in some way (It doesn't have to be obvious. A subtle poke can be just a immerise and mysterious) I would say it could have a noir look. Maybe a mafia look? A sort of 1920s-30s style. Maybe something…
I think they have to at least reference and be about the mythos in order for it to count. I have came up with my favorite playlist of some mythos inspired songs and music, https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_afhiLUVN9S4oVYDxo9m0MRi57tlav__

Very well done Brethren. I am always looking for music that fills my mind with the Great Old Ones. May He Rise. May They Rise. Iä Iä Cthulhu Fhtagn.
So, I know people before have posted about music that is Cthulhu mythos inspired or at least give the same feeling.
I listen to...
The Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth soundtrack. I think it has a great atmosphere, and since it's a from a game you can follow the tracks, and form a little story out of it in your head.
Graham Plowman (YouTube). He makes a lot of mythos inspired music, kinda like Cryo Chamber (YouTube). Although, while Cryo Chamber's music is more ambience. Graham Plowman makes compositions, so if you're more into that... here you go.
Pierre Angel's album: Cthulhu Mythos (Spotify). I don't know how to describe this one other than that it's pretty good, and also has some cool and interesting voice bits.
I would love to hear who you guys listen to (if any), that encaputre that mystical and sometimes rather dark feeling.
Iä Iä Cthulhu fhtagn!
Hello fellow brothers and sisters,
I don't know if you use Spotify but I have made a playlist for dark Lovecraftian atmosphere. It's great if you want to study the Bible of Cthulhu or other occult texts. It's also good for sleeping with.
