Hello, I'm creating concept of Cthulhu temple for my story. And it isn't an evil or disposable location, it's a underground temple and part of the fortress that worships Cthulhu where rituals are on daily basis. I wanted to ask all ocultists here to imagine one and describe it.
Thanks in advance!
It would be secretive, because a lot of people would see the Cult as evil or a joke.
It would be underground, similar to something @Benn Burgess described.
Rituals would be practiced weekly, there would have to be some sort of income so that we would be able to sustain our selves.
EmTotally depends on the status of Cthulhu Worship in your world building. If it is a normal or majority practice, the more lavish the better.
If it is a hidden or underground practice, it should be as low key as possible.
Take into consideration that the original churches of Christianity were likely peoples' own dwellings, and had to be hidden to escape persecution. Its growth as a religion and acceptance by much of the population is what enabled them to have the grand and lavish cathedrals we see today.
Work from the context of your story and its setting.
Wealth and status are super important to consider here.
It would appear as neither of those exactly. While the interior would have similar architecture to a modern church or Parish there would be no crosses but cyclopian symbols and stained glass windows would be images of shub-niggurath,Yog-sothoth ,Cthulhu and Azatoth. The exterior should appear ancient. As a Greek or Roman place of worship and sacrifice.
What time are we talking about here? Is it during the dark ages or modern or 1920s?
