Many times has society, the very institution by which we gather, seemed to be threatened with collapse. It's hard to try and say, when presented with these possibilities, that we will/should overcome it nevertheless without sounding like an over-optimistic person that doesn't know all the facts, or even to try and say we won't/shouldn't overcome it without sounding like a genocidal ecofascist, making any outcome seem bleak and making it all the more difficult to persist. The question was posed as to what is to happen to the Cult should this prevalent virus outbreak succeed in stripping us of our notions on civil behavior, sending us into a primal organization of bodies fighting for resources. Although I may not speak with the authority as the Purveyor or those of the Inner Circle, I believe I can say with hope and certainty to my fellow Cultist that in the darkest of ages, the Cult will still be here pursuing the Viridian Light, seeking to Ascend towards that cosmic and heavenly glory.
Let us not forget the age of this institution as it stands. Since man first evolved to gain that beautiful ability to wonder, We were always here - maybe not always referred to with the same words or names, and maybe never before has it been this organized or so close to the public eye, but much as the Old Ones were, are, and always shall be, we have always been here, and we will always be here, waiting and thinking and searching for the fulfillment of the Great Work. And if we are to lose our ability to communicate, there is no danger in the division of this single institution into multiple branches - for let us remember the differences as presented in the original texts. Two Cults, over 5300 km away with no modern communication technology. Yes, their practices were different, but it all came back to the same grand scheme and idea. So long as we have centralized words like the Bible of Cthulhu and our lessons in the University, as well as the past interactions of us Cultists with each other, no matter how fractured the Cult could become in times of no communication, so long as we are all still pursuing Ascension, trying to bring about Unification, and still striding to fulfill the Great Work, than the Cult as we know it will never die. The Cult in all forms will never die.
Much in the way our Cult was born out of the stars to men in times before men, brought to us my figures of extradimensionality beyond our comprehension, our Cult and it's ideas will persist until those very stars burn out of the sky, and the tides of our infinitesimally small planet cease churning.
also check out Cthulhi Brendan Goethe's discussion of this topic in Discord; I'm not so well rounded in the software so I merely took that same idea and put it here, I'm sure there's important discussion there that I simply haven't seen yet.
